About Us
Voices/Vision, begun in 1989 as Different Voices/Shared Vision, is a gathering
of women and men within The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod who believe that
the synod's position on the ministry of women should be the subject of
dialogue and discussion.
Incorporated in 1999 as a not-for-profit organization, Voices/Vision publishes
a newsletter three times a year (Click on the Join button below to have your
name added to the mailing list), sponsors occasional free conferences, and works
for change in the synod's understanding of the role of women in the church.
Vision Statement
- We are persons created in the image and likeness of God, baptized and gifted
members of the Body of Christ and laborers in the Kingdom of God.
- We are committed to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.
- We actively seek a theologically correct understanding of servanthood, church,
ministry and the nature of God in the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod.
- We work to bring about a theologically correct understanding, by both clergy
and laity, of the value of the ministry of women, one that affirms women in
all roles in the church and in the world, and we seek to support all women
in the work and ministry of their choosing.
- We are committed to, and actively seek, a change in the present understanding
of the role of women in the ministries of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod,
that no longer will a woman be restricted by her gender in serving the Body
of Christ in any role to which the Lord has called her.
